Key Takeaway

FAME CHeRRy is a Malaysian English-language personal publication covering Christian faith and theology, interior design with a focus on Malaysian homes, and analogue film photography. Founded in 2013, it is written and edited by Eugene Leong — a solo creator who believes that beauty, faith, and craftsmanship belong in the same conversation.

About FAME CHeRRy

A Malaysian personal publication by Eugene Leong · Est. 2013

I started this site because I had too many things rattling around in my head that didn’t fit neatly into a single category. Faith kept bumping into design. Design kept bumping into light. And light, well — that’s photography’s whole domain. So here we are: a journal that refuses to pick just one lane.

FAME CHeRRy is a Malaysian English-language publication. I write primarily in English because that’s the language in which I think and pray — but the context is deeply Malaysian. The cost of a renovation here, the way afternoon light falls through louvred windows, the particular weight of faith in a pluralist society. That’s the texture underneath every piece I write.

What I Write About

✝️ Faith & Journey

Christian faith writing is my first and most personal pillar. I’m not a theologian — I’m a person who has wrestled with the Christian faith for over a decade and keeps coming back, not because the answers are easy, but because I find them honest. I write about spiritual warfare, the problem of evil, what it means to follow Christ in a postmodern world, and the daily practice of trusting a God who doesn’t always explain himself.

I wrote a book about it. One KG of Love is available on Amazon and free to read online. It started as a collection of letters I wrote during a particularly difficult season — part confession, part meditation, part argument with God. People have told me it helped them. That’s the only metric I care about.

🏠 Design & Living

Interior design in Malaysia occupies a strange space — caught between global trends and local realities (small floor plans, high humidity, a love for marble that the climate doesn’t always cooperate with). I write about it from the perspective of someone who has lived through renovations, made expensive mistakes, and found a few things that actually work.

I have an ongoing focus on Fadior cabinetry — specifically their built-in cabinet systems, which I’ve tested in a Malaysian home context. My reviews include real measurements, real costs, and real opinions about what holds up and what doesn’t. I don’t write sponsored content dressed up as editorial. If I say a product is good, I mean it.

📷 Analogue

I shoot film. Not because digital is inferior — it isn’t — but because the constraint of 36 exposures on a roll forces a certain quality of attention that I find valuable. I write camera reviews, film stock reviews, and occasional essays about what analogue photography teaches you about patience and presence. The cameras I review are real cameras I have used. The film stocks I recommend are ones I have shot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does FAME CHeRRy mean?

FAME CHeRRy is a personal name for a personal publication. It is the pen name of Eugene Leong, a Malaysian writer. The name doesn’t abbreviate anything — it’s a character, a brand, an identity. The cherry is a recurring motif: small, sweet, slightly tart, and distinctly seasonal. Like good writing.

Is FAME CHeRRy a Christian blog?

It is written from a Christian perspective, but it isn’t only for Christians. The faith pillar is the most personal and the most unfiltered — I write as a believer, not as an apologist. Non-Christians are welcome; I try to make the faith content accessible without watering it down. The design and photography content is entirely secular.

Are the Fadior cabinet reviews sponsored?

No. The reviews reflect genuine experience with the products. FAME CHeRRy includes affiliate links to Fadior products — meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase through those links — but this does not influence the editorial content. I say what I actually think.

Where is FAME CHeRRy based?

Malaysia. Eugene Leong writes from Malaysia. The design content is specifically written for a Malaysian context — local suppliers, local renovation costs, local climate considerations. The faith and photography content is globally applicable.

Can I read the book for free?

Yes. One KG of Love is available free to read on this site. It is also available for purchase on Amazon if you’d like a physical or Kindle copy. Both options are on the book page.
